Many of us were nervous about whether we'd be able to have youth contact sports this fall. And in early June, our New Albany Youth Tackle Football board met to discuss a range of situations. After all of the "What If's" and "I don't knows", we aligned that we just wanted to get the kids out playing football, regardless of whether we could play actual games or not. That mentality kept us going and preparing for the season. We decided to delay the season 1 week and as late July approached, we pushed out the season another week as we, and all other Fall contact sports leagues, awaited the updates from Gov. Dewine. Since the approval to start up was given, we have followed the safety guidelines and protocols and now are pleased to be 3 weeks of practices into the season. New Albany will again have 2 teams in the Senior division and 1 team in the Junior division. And now, after all of the uncertainty, we are in a game week. The league makeup looks different than past years with many leagues in Central Ohio deciding to cancel for the year. We have teams from Big Walnut, Centerburg, North Columbus, and Westerville joining our league to go with us, Bexley, Columbus Academy, Gahanna, Worthington, and Olentangy.
So excited to be kicking off games on Sunday, September 6, at the HS Football Stadium
Go Eagles!
